Larsen & Toubro to build a data center in Tamilnadu

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has signed MoU with the Tamil Nadu government to set a data center at Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu India.

L&T will build 90 MW capacity Data Centers and associated units in a phased manner in Kanchipuram over the next five years. The firm envisages employing around 1100 people, including 600 direct and 500 indirect, to build data entre. The Government of Tamil Nadu will provide constant power supply and other infrastructure support on a best-effort basis that will bring tangible economic and social benefits to the people of Tamil Nadu.

According to the plan, L&T to establish hyper-scale data centers at Kanchipuram to provide comprehensive solutions and end-to-end data center services, with multi-cloud managed and cyber security services, digital transformation integration services, and application integration services. The major construction company in India, L&T is using technology and innovation for sustainable growth.

Mr. S N Subrahmanyan, CEO & MD, L&T, “Tamil Nadu is on a growth trajectory, and we are delighted to partner with the Government of Tamil Nadu to propel this growth by building a data center that will further trigger development by attracting investments and generating jobs for the people of Kanchipuram.”

A leader in deploying IIoT in its businesses, L&T is 3D printing house, using IoT to power smart buildings for its clients, ensuring ‘safety at the workplace through simulated (VR) systems, tracking & monitoring over 11,000 assets across its project sites through digital chipsets: and employing Geospatial tech, LiDAR and drone-based surveys. A strong, customer-focused approach and the constant quest for top-class quality have enabled L&T to attain and sustain leadership in its major lines of business for eight decades.

The MoU was signed at Coimbatore by Mr. Sudhir L. Mahajan, Vice President & Head Data Center Business, L&T, and Ms. Pooja Kulkarni, IAS, MD & CEO, Guidance, in the august presence of Chief Minister, Tamil Nadu, Thiru M K Stalin and other officials from L&T.
